Company History

July 1919 Began producing Japanese handmade paper at what is now Kinsei Mill.
February 1946 Marusumi Paper Co., Ltd. established (reorganized as a corporation).
March 1954 Absorbed and merged with Marui Paper Co., Ltd., relaunched as Kawanoe Mill.
December 1956 GP manufacturing facility at Kawanoe Mill completed.
February 1964 Second paper-making machine completed at Kawanoe Mill.
July 1967 Third paper-making machine and continuous six-stage pulp bleaching system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
November 1967 Shin-Kawanoe-ko Port and woodchip unloading facility completed. Woodchip cargo ship from North America entered port for the first time.
January 1968 One full continuous kraft pulp (KP) production system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
March 1970 Fourth paper-making machine and RGP (refiner ground pulp) production system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
December 1971 Comprehensive wastewater treatment system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
April 1973 Fifth paper-making machine completed and RGP production system expanded at Kawanoe Mill.
March 1978 Deinked pulp (DIP) production system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
September 1978 Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) production system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
December 1979 First papermaking machine, TMP production system, in-house power generation system, and comprehensive wastewater treatment system completed at Ohe Mill.
April 1988 Second papermaking machine, DIP production system, and chemical thermomechanical pulp (CTMP) production system completed, and in-house power generation system expanded at Ohe Mill.
July 1990 High-grade DIP production system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
November 1991 Oxygen bleaching system completed at Kawanoe Mill.
July 1995 Marusumi Whangarei Co., Ltd. established. *Joint-venture company formed with Marubeni Corporation
July 1996 Fourth boiler completed at Kawanoe Mill.
February 1998 Third papermaking machine completed at Ohe Mill.
March 2000 Sixth boiler completed at Ohe Mill.
July 2000 Seventh boiler completed at Ohe Mill.
October 2000 Kawanoe and Ohe Mill acquired ISO14001 certification.
January 2002 New DIP production system completed at Ohe Mill.
November 2006 FSC®・CoC certification acquired (FSC-C021633).
June 2007 One full continuous KP production system completed at Ohe Mill.
March 2014 Umenoki Solar Power Station completed.
August 2014 Tobu Solar Power Station completed.
April 2015 Shikoku Green Farm Co., Ltd. established.
June 2016 Ninth boiler completed at Ohe Mill.
March 2018 Soil stabilizing agent manufacturing facility completed at Ohe Mill.
February 2019 Paper towel processing machine completed at business partner Taiyo Shigyou Co., Ltd. (Shizuoka Pref., Fujinomiya City)
July 2019 100th anniversary
March 2021 Second paper towel processing machine completed at Taiyo Shigyou Co., Ltd.
June 2021 Shikokuchuo City Carbon Neutrality Council established
July 2021 CNF pilot plant completed and CNF R&D center opened at Ohe Mill.
July 2021 Wet wipes processing facility completed at Ohe Mill (hygienic paper center).
October 2021 Paper towel processing facility completed at Ohe Mill (hygienic paper center).
April 2022 Began sales of hygiene product brand eminas®.
April 2023 Fourth papermaking machine and processing facility completed at Ohe Mill.
