Paper exists as an intimate part of our everyday lives in a variety of ways. However, it is something that we make by taking a portion from nature, what is essential for all living things to thrive in.

Marusumi Paper Company strives to ensure harmonious coexistence of paper with our invaluable world of nature, and to this end, we work to improve our environmental conservation technologies as part of our sincere effort to reduce the global environmental impact.

Manufacturing and sales of newsprint, printing and writing paper, business communication paper, Hygienic paper, and kraft pulp. (Annual production volume: approximately 380,000 tons)

Energy

As part of our strategy for “enhancing our environmental and social-related projects,” which is one of our paths to realizing our Long-Term Management Vision 2024, we are putting forth active efforts in our electrical power generation business.

Biomass Power Generation

In June 2007 at Ohe Mill, we built a state-of-the-art kraft pulp manufacturing plant that conserves energy and reduce our environmental impact.
In the heat energy recovery operation, we extract a liquid called “black liquor” in the pulping process and burn it in the high-efficiency biomass boiler. We sell a portion of the electricity generated in this process to a local electric power company by utilizing the Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff (FIT) policy.

Solar Power Generation

We use our roof of warehouse and idle land that we own in Shikokuchuo City to generate solar power. We sell all of the generated electricity to a local electric power company by utilizing the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) policy.

• Umenoki Solar Power Generating Station (completed in March 2014)
  This station has the solar battery capacity of 2,000kW and projected annual power generation amount of approximately 2.1 million kWh, which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 600 ordinary households.
• Tobu Solar Power Generating Station (completed in August 2014)
  This station has the solar battery capacity of 2,200kW and projected annual power generation amount of approximately 2.4 million kWh, which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 700 ordinary households.
